Finding primitive and country decorating ideas on the internet or in magazines is always a treat, especially when you already have things that you can use to achieve the look you want. Then, you drag your boxes out of storage to find that your smaller items have been damaged. I used to find this a real problem when preparing for the Christmas season. Then, I stumbled upon an idea that is simple and Free! It works very well for ornaments and accents that are odd-shaped or have embellishments. If you set up at craft fairs or flea markets, this packing method will help ensure the safety of your smaller products. A great storage solution that recycles items that most grocery stores throw out.
You will need---
- Apple boxes with foam or pressed paper inserts shaped like half of a large bubble
- Paper or bubble wrap (optional)
- Place the first insert in the bottom of the box bubble side down.
- Wrap your especially fragile ornaments in additional packing materials if you want.
- Place one or two accents in each bubble, making sure that you pack the heaviest pieces on the bottom row.
- Put the second insert over the first row bubble side up.
- The third insert goes into the box bubble side down.
- Pack another row of items into the bubbles.
- Top it off with an insert bubble side up.
- Continue this pattern until your box is full and replace the lid.
- Label your boxes on one end and one side. Be sure that one of the labels is visible when you pack your boxes away.
