Our Primitive Egg Beater Project is easy and economical to complete. Use one as an accent in your own country kitchen. Make several for gift giving or for your next craft show or bazaar. You will need---
- Wire whisk
- Speckled hen eggs-plastic
- Excelsior
- Berries and other embellishments
- Torn homespun fabric strip, 2" wide and long enough to tie a bow
- Torn homespun fabric strip, 1/2" wide and about 10" long (optional)
- Glue gun and glue sticks
- Hold a section of excelsior in one hand and wrap it around with your other hand until you have achieved a nest shape.
- Spread the wires of the whisk to insert the nest along the bottom and up the back of the whisk. Press the wires back into place.
- Spread the wires of the whisk in front of the nest apart to set a plastic speckled hen egg in the nest. Postion the egg at an angle in the nest and not straight up or across for a more natural look. Press the wires back into place.
- Highlight the nest and egg with berries and other embellishments. Glue into place.
- Tie the 2" torn homespun fabric strip into a bow about half way down the shaft of the whisk.
- Your primitive egg beater is ready to hang. If you prefer to hang your egg beater on a peg or similar object that will not fit through the ring at the top, add the 1/2" torn fabric strip and tie it into a loop.
